Alternative RnB at its best, Philadelphia New Girl Kriss Mincey is the quiet storm. Her jazz-infused style is reminiscent of Janelle Monae, Minnie Riperton and Natalie Cole, with a touch of contemporary edge. Dubbed the Artrepreneur®, Kriss Mincey has proven to be nothing short of a resonate being among us, leaving listeners’ ears quenched and hearts breathless.
Check out her Artrepreneur® movement:
“Us. We’re just trying to become who we are. Beautiful, but it’s not pretty; it’s an internal conflict between what you’re comfortable with vs. what you know you could be. Scary.
This art series is my manifestation of self. Since moving to Philadelphia, I’ve learned that in order to become the new “self,” we have to look beyond ourselves to make it about a collective experience, trading competition and individualism for compassion and empathy for what is a common struggle.
What started as a concept for a press photo shoot back in February grew into a demonstration, an essay, a story about becoming who I am, shedding my shell, being unafraid of myself, and without judgement.
I started vlogging about this journey on Instagram, and called it “The Rise of the Artrepreneur.” I break this journey down into three parts: The Artifact, The Purge and The Beast; or, the epiphany, the becoming and the manifestation of self. I knew this story wasn’t about just me anymore. It’s the tale of a generation.
The story of the twenty-somethings.”
